Willow Class

In English we will be looking at stories as well as non-fiction writing. We are also linking this term’s reading to our overall topic of Greece and the Anicent Greeks. The children will be looking at grammar, spelling and punctuation that links to the texts we are working on. There will be weekly spelling tests.
This term we will be looking at fractions, decimals & percentages, multiplication and division, algebra and ratio. We will also look at solving problems within all of topics we cover.
We will be looking at the topic Evolution & Inheritance. This will include recognising: that living things have changed over time; that living things produce offspring of the same kind and they they vary from their parents; plants and anilmals adapt to suit their environment.
In Computing we will look at E-Safety, the children will find out about how to keep themselves safe whilst using computers, smart phones, games systems and tablets. We will also look at how to use computer programmees to present our findings and work.
History & Geography
We will be discovering the phyiscal & human features of Greece and look into AncientGreece and what the Greeks have done for us.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday, Wednesday will be a PE lesson where children will look at various activities including their own fitness. On Thursday the children will take part in Dance. Please ensure PE kits are in school on Monday and stay in school all week.
Art & DT
In Art will be looking atdrawing colour as well as artists such as Warhol & William Morris. In DT we will design, make & evaluate Greek theatre masks.
In RE we will be looking at the new RE curriculum, in this we will answer the question ‘How can following God bring freedom and justice?’ We will look at a range of Bible stories during our lessons.
Class Assembly
Our class assembly in on 28th February at 9am.
Homework is an important part of your child’s learning, in addition to the homework folder,  we will expect the children to read on a regular basis and to learn spellings for the weekly spelling test.
